In this episode i go over how to easily repair a towel bar or towel rack that has come removed from the wall.
Fix broken ceramic towel bar.

However the damage should be easy to repair once the towel rack is completely removed.
1 remove the bar section of the towel rack by pulling one side in if it s a tension bar.
No need for plaster repair or drywall etc.
Now that you ve got your supplies it s time to go to work by removing the old towel bar.
Put the toggle bolts on the towel bar mounting hardware by sliding the screw into the mounting hole and threading the spring loaded piece onto the other side.
I easily pulled my bar out on its own since it was too short to begin with but if yours isn t you can remove it by sawing through the middle of it.
Or if the only problem is the towel bar itself it s missing it s broken or it s just plain ugly just replace it with a spring loaded one.
One of the ceramic porcelain towel holders fell off the wall leaving a square hole in the dry wall where it used to be this is how it was originally installed.
Replace old towel bars soap dishes corner shelves and other ceramic fixtures on ceramic tile walls without breaking the tile or cutting into the walls.
Don t put off this fix.
Remove the old or broken towel bar from your wall.
Ceramic materials boast high surface energy and wet easily.
Use a cordless drill and make the existing holes in the wall larger so you can put in toggle bolts.
This is the best way to fix a hole in drywall from a towel rack being pulled out.
Remove the old towel bar.
The small wimpy wall anchors included with most towel bar sets just don t have enough holding power.
Cut your new replacement bar to size.

But with sturdy new anchors you can remount towel bars so they ll never come loose again.
To repair a loose or broken towel bar.
Collect all the broken pieces and try to reconstruct them into a complete piece.
Even so you should clean and degrease the surface and use emery paper or sandblasting to do mechanical abrasion of the surface.
When towel bars come loose it s usually because they weren t well fastened in the first place.
I need to know what kind of putty cement etc would be best to re affix it in this hole.
